Dangers of napping around a toddler

John fell asleep on the couch after church today. Don't know if he'll make that mistake again!

I had been taping stripes in Lando's room, and Will was "helping" me, so I gave him a piece of painters tape. He took it downstairs and stuck it on Daddy's nose. :) The Sesame Street cards are from his Elmo doctor kit.

Will's First Day of School

This month Will has been going to a Toddler Time class on Wednesdays. This will be his third week. A woman from our church does the classes out of her home, and this one is kind of like pre-preschool. I had to take his picture on the first day of school. :)

Next month she isn't offering Toddler Time, but I think we're going to take an Art/Music class she offers.

Will and Connor

We watched Will's friend Connor a few times last week while Connor's mom, Jen, was dealing with some family stuff. Will LOVES playing with Connor! They had so much fun together. And of course Jen called when Connor was putting the paint brush in his mouth. Good thing it's washable and non-toxic!

Will's kidney appointment

Will had his annual visit with his kidney doctor (nephrologist, if you want the official term) today. Until now he'd gone every six months, but last August they saw enough improvement that once a year was going to be fine. We went a few weeks ago and he had an ultrasound done. The doctor was really pleased with what he saw on those. His good (left) kidney measured approximately nine centimeters. An average adult kidney is 12 centimeters! Will's kidney is larger than normal to compensate for there only being one. His bad kidney (or rather, the cysts in place of kidney) had shrunk three centimeters from last year. I thought that sounded pretty substantial, but apparently it's the amount of shrinkage they expected to see. The doctor was so pleased with it that now we don't have to go back for two more years! Woo hoo!

(BTW, when his kidney disease was first diagnosed we were told that his right kidney had never developed and there were cysts there in place of the kidney. The doctors said ideally the cysts would shrink over time and eventually be absorbed by the body.)

Church banquet

Our church had a banquet dinner last Friday night. It was a lot of fun. There were water games and water slides outside, but we figured Will was too little. He had fun playing on the bounce houses inside, although there were a lot of bigger kids that shouldn't have been playing on them that kind of ruined it. :(

Fun Day

Will and I had a really fun day today. We went out to Gilbert to see some friends. We started at my friend April's house to see her and her new baby boy, Jace. He was born last Monday. Will played with his friend Riley whom he never sees (and confuses with his friend Josh' baby sister Riley...this one he calls "different baby Riley."). Jace was so teeny tiny! It was fun to hold him and check out his little fingers and toes. It had been a long time since I held a new baby that little. And of course I had my camera in the diaper bag, but did I remember to get it out and take any pictures? Nope!

From there we went and met my friend Denise and her kids Brooke and Mason at Peter Piper Pizza for lunch. It's amazing to me how big her kids have gotten. When we met them, Brooke was 2.5 and Mason was only a few weeks old. Now Brooke's going in to third grade and Mason into kindergarten! They're fun kids, John and I used to baby-sit them every now and then when we lived out there. Will had fun playing with them, although he was way more interested in all the games and toys than in eating his lunch. Of course.

Tonight we're going to a banquet at our church that should be fun. Tomorrow we're heading to my mom's. Well, Will is heading there and John and I are going to see the new Batman movie. Then we'll go over there for swimming and dinner. I can't believe it's the first weekend of August already!
